Volunteer Options

• Adoption Events are on the weekend. We also have special events that need volunteers and we will contact you for help & availability if you wish.
• Cat Condos are located in Buena Park and Kathy L. will contact you for support and availability. These are kitties that stay there for a week at a time and require folks to go twice a day to feed and clean.
• The Cat Office is located in Santa Ana and we will notify when we need help. The cat office needs more consistent volunteers as we are dealing with sick kitties at times.
• Fundraising- we have an annual event in November and need folks to help with multiple things such as making baskets, calling places of businesses for donations and day of set up and clean-up.
• Grant Writing- If you have experience with grant writing and would like to help, please contact kathy@meoowzresq.org

Here is a list of procedures and things to remember

At Adoption Events

1. Shifts can be split in half but staying the whole time is much appreciated
2. If doing the morning shift, arrive on time, 30 min before the adoption event and check in with the coordinator.
3. Dress comfortably, you will be moving around, talking to people and picking up kitties and doing light cleaning.
4. Bring water and snacks.
5. There will be times you are busy helping folks and times when you are just sitting and waiting.
6. Take initiative and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Asking “how can I help, or what can I do next” are always appreciated.
7. Please respect the volunteer times and if you are not able to make it, please notify the Volunteer Coordinator or Event Coordinator running the event 7. If doing the afternoon shift, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
   1. Setting up the event table, cages and bedding/litter boxes
   2. Placing clean bedding inside of cages
   3. Filling up the water container and filling up the water in cages
   4. Taking the adoption advertisement signs outside- to let folks know of the event
   5. Put toys in the cat cages
8. Staying the whole time is much appreciated
9. If doing the afternoon shift, responsibilities include but not limited to:
   1. Taking down cages if needed and items inside
   2. Taking out the bedding from cages once a kitty leaves and placing them in bags to get washed
   3. Cleaning out the water bowls
   4. Scooping out litter boxes
   5. Sweeping the floor
   6. Putting away all the cat toys and cleaning the catio
   7. Taking out the trash, leave the area as clean as possible
10. Check in with the coordinator to see if there is anything else
11. NO SHOWS are subject to not being allowed

In the Cat Office

1. Office hours are 10am-4pm
2. Shift can be split from 10-1pm and 1pm-4pm, you are welcome to stay for a shift or the entire time.
3. Dress comfortably and only bring items you need as there are cats roaming the office.
4. Responsibilities will include/but not limited to:
   1.  feeding cats
   2. changing water bowls
   3. cleaning litter boxes
   4. washing dishes & putting away dishes
   5. changing bedding
   6. laundry
   7. folding towels and blankets
   8. sweeping & mopping
   9. cleaning out cat condos & kennels
   10. sanitizing counters, carriers, and desks
   11. taking out the trash
5. There will be lists on the walls of responsibilities and always ask when in doubt
6. The cat office prefers to have folks that can consistently volunteer, as the office is the home of several kittens who need daily care.
